dangerously restrict access to abortion.

Mandatory parental notification or consent before a
minor may obtain an abortion can be a very difficult personal issue at first
glance for parents and legislators alike. Despite Illinois’
unconstitutional 1995 parent-involvement law, good family communication is not
something that can be legislated. In the few states where mandated parental
involvement has been enacted, the documented results show, not a decrease in
teen pregnancy, but delays in services with serious health consequences. In
some cases teenagers have died at their own hands, at an illegal abortionist,
or at the hands of a parent who has committed incest. Because it is important
to protect the health and lives of teenagers in crisis situations, nearly every
respected medical and public health organization in the U.S. is now on record
opposing parental notification and consent laws, recognizing that
judicial-bypass provisions do virtually virtually nothing to help young women
and result in larger court backlogs. These organizations include the American
Medical Association, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists,
American Public Health Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American
Psychological Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent
Psychologists, Society of Adolescent Medicine and Nurses Association of the
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. A recent study in Texas showed that
many pregnant 17 year olds are postponing their abortions for weeks or longer
until their 18th birthday to avoid the parental notice law there. Other
teenagers are now going to the internet where there is no shortage of predators
who will take their money and promise drugs to terminate a pregnancy, making
the internet the new “back-alley” with illegal and dangerous abortion
information for frightened teens to escape parental notice laws.

On June 29, 2007, New Hampshire repealed its “Parental
Notice of Abortion” law, recognizing that such laws are completely unworkable,
waste taxpayer’s money and only result in horrible consequences for teenagers
who cannot consult their parents. In signing the repeal law, New Hampshire
Governor John Lynch stated, “I strongly believe parents should be involved in
these decisions, providing important support and guidance. Unfortunately, that
is not possible in every case.”

         Reason: I feel that today’s
children are not getting the support and guidance they should
                   because the
parents have to spend more time away from home to
financially support their
families due to the high costs of living and the low
worker raises. This is leading us to a
breakdown of the family in this country where children don’t feel they can talk
to their parents
about important issues like this. We
do not need children have babies that they can not
                   support, making it even
harder on the families, or worst yet adding
the amount of children in
the care of the state adding to working class having
to pay out more in taxes and giving the
                   American
people more lower class citizens in the future to help support since most of
these
children fall into the same cycle of their
mothers since they do not get the support and
guidance they need to make the
right choices in their lives or the financial
support to finish
school or go on to college.

In 2007, HB317, “The Adolescent Health Care Safety

legislation would have given pregnant teens, especially those from violent and
abusive homes, the option of seeing a caring professional or adult family

more parents being brought into the abortion decision as well as more teen
victims of sexual abuse and violence getting legal intervention to protect them
from future harm.

Reason: The health of the mother
should always be the priority. The mother can try for another
              child later and
does no good for the child or the family if they

Informed consent is already required for all medical
procedures. Recently, some states began to require mandatory anti-abortion
lectures. Most of this legislation requires a physician to recite a
predetermined litany of biased information about the “risks” of abortion
without requiring a discussion of the significantly greater risks of pregnancy
and childbirth. Physicians are already obligated under law to discuss the
appropriate risks and alternatives to all medical procedures, and to obtain the
informed consent of a patient before proceeding. A mandatory anti-abortion
lecture violates the physician-patient relationship and is nothing more than
patients being forced to review state mandated anti-choice propaganda.

various stages during pregnancy, and
              other state-mandated information designed
to dissuade a woman from having an
abortion?

Reason: I believe that it should be
up to medical community to make sure that all treatment
              options be presented in
a fair, even, and non-biased view showing all
the risks of each giving the
choice to the patient to choose what is best for
them.

There have been attempts to single out abortion as the
only medical service for which there should be a mandatory waiting period
between the time a woman signs the consent form and the actual performance of
the abortion procedure. These laws do nothing to assist women in making the
decision to seek an abortion and are designed by opponents of abortion to
harass women who choose to terminate a pregnancy. Most women who live outside
the Chicago area must
travel long distances to a clinic. The waiting period forces them to make two
trips. Even in Chicago, a waiting
period requires a woman to take two days off of work to visit the clinic for no
actual, medical reason. These laws are yet another governmental intrusion into
the physician/patient relationship and can cause delays that threaten a woman’s
health, or result in a denial of services.

     9). Would
you OPPOSE legislation requiring a
waiting period between the time that a woman signs a
consent form and the time that her abortion procedure is
performed?

    (X)Yes ( )No

Reason: There should be no delay
especially when the health of the patient could be affected. By
              the time a
woman signs the consent form there she has thought
about what she is done many
times over and knows exactly what she wants to do
by then.

Medicaid covers a wide range of medical services
including pregnancy-related matters. In. 1977, Illinois singled out

programs. In 1994, under court order, Illinois began
paying for abortions that are medically necessary to protect a woman’s health.
Denying Medicaid funding for abortion costs both taxpayers and families.
Approximately three-quarters of the women who are denied Medicaid funding for
abortion have one anyway, usually at great sacrifice to themselves and their
families. Many borrow from their rent or grocery budgets which means their
families must do without basic necessities. Sometimes, because it takes time to
secure the money, the woman has to obtain an abortion at a later stage, when
the procedure is even more expensive and poses a greater risk to her health.

I feel there comes a point where no matter what the medical community can do

policy to wait until the money was in place before initiating a construction

that most of these roads are state controlled but we should be pushing

the state and federal government

that will use future growth into

grant from the federal government which our lobbyist had anything

to do with. It did look like they
did help the county by showing them how to promote the projects at both

the state and federal level which
looks like talking to our state and federal representatives about what we

need.

Question 5: The board is exploring the
creation of a multi-million dollar county campus near its courthouse and
administration building in Woodstock. Do you support the concept of a county campus and, if so, what
new facilities should be built on it?

Answer: I
believe we should have one central location for all our services so that people

their needs with the county. If we do build this or any other county

construction projects and upgrading the existing county buildings to

help save energy, reduce our costs,
and help the environment.

Question 6: County Board Chairman Ken
Koehler recently said the will help fund a study for a Fox River crossing along
Longmeadow Parkway in Kane County, but that’s where the county’s financial
contribution to the project would end. Given the likelihood the bridge would
serve thousands of McHenry County residents and ease traffic in downtown
Algonquin, do you believe the county should contribute more to the project or
do you believe, like Koehler, the county needs to spend its road dollars in the
county? Explain your answer.

Answer: I think we need to use our money in
improving our roads to rid grid lock and if that means we

Reason: Downtown Algonquin has to be one of the top
three grid lock areas in the county and we need

to do whatever we can to fix the

not only plan for this bridge but
how we can connect our road system to it to help our people also.

Question 7: Transportation continues to be
a major concern throughout <st1>McHenry </st1><st1>County</st1>, primarily in the southeastern and northeastern corners. If
elected, what specifically, would you do to expedite improved transportation
funding for the county? What would you do that’s different from what’s
previously been done? Be specific.

Answer: I
think we need to add an east/west expressway across the county that connects to
RT.12, Rt.

14, Rt. 31, and Rt. 47. I think we
need to redesign these same routes to be expressways like <st1:Street><st1:address>Palatine

is in the <st1:Street><st1:address>Wolf

homes and businesses along those roads.

Reason: We not only need a better
road system that moves our people and goods better, we need to think

about a better mass transit system.
Our bus system in this county is almost non existing and our train

system has schedules that are so
limited that the people in District 6 have no real choice but to use private
transportation. I think as we fix our road system, we need to think about
including our own train system like the one Chicago
has that goes in the middle of the expressway out to O’Hare airport.

Question 8: Experts predict portions of <st1>McHenry </st1><st1>County </st1>will

Answer: I
would work with the state and federal water departments and follow their
suggestions on how

to conserve and clean up our
watersheds.

Reason: As we all have read in the
papers lately, we have a problem with protection of the water we

have. I feel strongly about going
after those people and businesses that have and still are damaging our

current water supplies. I also
believe that we need to think about designing our conservation areas in the

county with reservoirs that we can
use for both our drinking supplies and enjoyment. I know that using

surface water is more costly than
using wells but there will be a time when wells will cost us more

because of the depths we will have
to drill down to get to the water and the cost of making that water

usable.

Question 9: What, if anything should the
McHenry County Board do to ease growing concerns about the immigration issues
which have turned volatile in so many communities. If elected, what
specifically, would you do about the increasing number of illegal immigrants in <st1>McHenry</st1><st1> County</st1>?

how well they understand how to speak,

law enforcement the ability to enforce our existing laws on illegal

immigration. When we find someone

I am sure like the other candidates, we are starting to get many groups sending us many questionnaires. Many gave us short time frames to get them completed, limited our answers to "Yes or "No", or gave us a limit on the number of words we could use. I am going to be converting them all to word documents and adding them to this blog thread as I finish converting them. I will have the exact wording from them with the exact answer I gave them, and then the reason why I gave that answer. I want everyone to know just how I stand before you see some edited version of my answers.

The first one I received was from the "Attainable Housing Alliance". They did not limit the answers but I still feel I need to explain my answers since it was the very first one I filled out.

Have
     you ever held elected office?

Answer: No

Why
     are you seeking public office?

Answer: To make McHenry County
Government for the people by the people and to see that our tax money is used
to bring the most to the people.

Reason: Our current government is run by the
Republicans who look out for the wealthy and big business and not the people
who vote them into office and pay the biggest part of the taxes.

If
elected, what are your top priorities?

Answer: Spending reform, new income for the county
without raising property or sales taxes, and a better road system to help
people and bring in new business.

Reason: We need to review how our elected officials
are spending our tax money, reform the rules on what is a true government
expense and what is not. We need to find other ways to bring in money to the
county instead of expecting the working people of the county to keep paying
higher taxes. We need a road system that helps make it easier and faster to get
to where you are going. We need to make bypasses around congested areas to help
save gas and time. With a road system that helps move people and goods faster,
we can attract business to the county bringing jobs, income, and new tax money
to the county helping bring down the taxes on the working people.

Who
     are your key campaign supporters?

Answer: Family and friends.

Reason: I’m a regular working person with a regular <st1:time minute="52" hour="16">8 to 5</st1:time> job. I have no ties to any business
outside of the business I work for which is in Elgin.

Do you
agree that home building is one of the main economic engines of our county
and that access to affordable housing should be a main goal?

Answer: Yes and local, villages, towns, and cities
should stop requiring builders to only build large homes with big price tags to
increase their tax incomes.

Reason: We are building homes that no one can afford
in the county just so the local governments can get high property tax income.
We have a problem with jobs in the county that can support the high priced
homes which means we have to go outside the county for jobs that let us afford
the high priced homes. That causes big problems with our roads due to the fact
that they are not made for large traffic volumes. We have extra repairs along
with big grid lock issues.

The
housing economy is experiencing a dramatic downturn both locally and
nationally. Not only does this impact home builders, but also the
suppliers, service, workers and others who depend on the housing industry
for their jobs or businesses. What will you do if elected, to help the
     housing market in your area?

Answer: Help push for housing
projects that have lower price tags that will let more people be able to afford
a home.

Reason: I believe that if we build homes that we can
build on to as our needs grow, we can bring in more jobs to the building
industry as we expand our homes. I believe we should have lot sizes that let
you be able to add an addition on later. Unfinished basements we can finish
either on our own and help the building supply industry or have done by
contractors at a later time bringing in more jobs especially during the winter
months when our contractors can not work outside and are looking for work. This
would also help bring unemployment down during the off season.

What
is your vision for your District’s growth? If you anticipate future growth
in your District, how do you anticipate addressing the development
     necessary to support that growth?

Answer: I think we need to improve our roads and
transportation system to bring both people to live here and for business to get
their workers and goods in and out of the area.

Reason: Right now we are expanding the housing market
in our area without thinking about the extra traffic it is causing to our road
system. We need to improve our roads to attract both workers and businesses
that will help bring down the distance the workers have to travel to get to and
from work. It will help save gas, get the people and goods to and from faster,
and most important, let people spend more time with their families since they
can get to and from work faster.

median sale price of a new home in the Chicago
land area currently is $325,041 which would require an estimated income of
at least $93,000 to support an 80% mortgage when considering property
taxes and insurance costs. The average income for the region however is
only $67,900. What methods do you propose, or support for providing more

Answer: D & F Find ways to lower
the cost of building-such as designing homes that can be added on as the family
needs more space.

Reason: We need to stop building big high priced
homes that no one in the county can afford just to get the high property taxes.
We need to stop thinking about the big business interests and start thinking
about the working people. People need to a have a stake in the community by
being able to afford a home of their own where they can take pride in their
community. If we amend existing building and design codes, give financial
support on land costs, or waive impact fees, we are supporting the big business
interests and not those of the people. Whenever we cut costs for business,
their profits go up and the people are still paying the same prices. Just look
at any industry we have deregulated and see what their CEO’s are now making
compared to what they made before the deregulation. As for waiving permit fees.
No way. The permits keep track of what is being done in the community and help
pay for the inspectors that make sure we are getting a home that is safe by
meeting the building codes. We don’t need another China
type situation.

In
recent years there has been a push to mandate the installation of
residential fire sprinkler systems. Advocates of the mandate say
sprinklers save lives. Opponents say there are more affordable life safety
alternatives that do not cost $10,000 or more per house. If such a mandate

Answer: B

Reason: First I believe sprinklers do save life but
they can also cause extra property damage needlessly. I believe that all
systems should be a zoned system that only goes off in the area of the fire and
not trip the whole system. I also would have circled “C” because I feel
everyone should have the choice to have the sprinklers or not as they wish for
their own stand alone home.

Answer: B

Reason: As much as our county and local governments
need the extra income, it is not fair to charge for things that can not be
directly shown to come from the project.

We have a State's Attorney that has be accused of spending $17,000.00 of our tax money on personal and political items. Per the Northwest Herald quote, he says he did nothing wrong because once the money is budgeted to his department, he call spend it anyway he wants. We have a county treasurer who gave up his Chairmanship to the McHenry County Republican Party because it would cause a conflict of interest if he would have to produce the records for an investigation into the SA's spending. The county auditor who says that she thinks our SA spent the $17,000.00 on non county activities but is not sure because our rules on how money should be spent is not clear and she wants the county board to make them clear to her.
First I have to say to our SA that he can not spend our tax money on anything but county business, not anyway he sees fit once his budget is approved. That is why I think that Jack Franks' idea of a "Zero Balance Budget" should be used in our county also. What that is, is every department has to submit a line item budget every time it is time to renew the county's budget showing just how the money is to be spent. No more of I want 10% over what we got last year.
Second as to our county auditor saying she can not tell if the my spent by our SA was OK or not because the rules are too vague, use common since will you? Were the items the money was spent on for his personal or political use? If so, it was wrong. If you can't tell the difference, maybe it is time to step down and let someone who knows what they are looking for when its time to audit the county's spending do the job right.
It looks to me as tho these three people knew just what was going on from the beginning and are now covering it all up to protect their rears. We still have not had any investigations into this matter to prove one way or the other. We should can for the investigation now before the Primary so we know before the people of this county vote someone in that will have to step down after the facts come out.
The papers and others are trying to say this is just a campaign stunt to put a bad spin on the SA since he stopped using outside lawyers. If it is a campaign stunt, it is from the people of his own party since the Dems don't have anyone going against him.
I think the county treasurer and auditor also know that this is not the only one in the county government with their hand in the cookie jar. I think if we audit the rest of the county departments, we will find they all have something to hide.
Let me know what you think about this and if you know of any other departments using our tax money for other than county business.

A.
